Moon Hall SENCO Forum

It was great to visit Moon Hall, a specialist school for dyslexic children in Years 3-11 near Reigate in Surrey.

I had been invited down to talk at their SENCO forum, a informal and very friendly meeting of SENCOs, or Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators, from across the UK.

SENCOs are the school teacher who is responsible for assessing, planning and monitoring the progress of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Moon Hall invited me down to share how AI could help them reduce workloads and give them more time to spend with the pupils in their care.

Form 8 (Access Arrangements):

Access Arrangements allow candidates/learners with special educational needs, disabilities or temporary injuries to access the assessment without changing the demands of the assessment. For example, readers, scribes and Braille question papers.

They must be completed by a qualified SENCO and take a huge amount of time to compile. So, we thought we'd see if AI could help. Lucy Pelling the SENCO at Moon Hall demonstrates how with Interactive Tutor:

As Lucy says in the video, a task that had taken her half an hour or more for each question could now be completed in a couple of minutes.

Now, lets look at another use case.

Occupation Therapy Recommendations on Specific Classrooms:

Next, Lucy wanted to test the image analysis on Interactive Tutor combined with a custom AI Bot that she built and trained on a website and Moon Hall's own policy on occupational therapy.

The idea was, that Lucy could then go into any classroom, take a photograph and get recommendations from Interactive Tutor on how to improve the room.

Not only did Interactive Tutor work as intended, but it also gave Lucy a lot of other ideas on how she could use our AI to further improve pupil outcomes.

Interactive Tutor makes it easy for teachers to create, use and share AI for a whole range of tasks.

If you would like to use Interactive Tutor in your school feel free to book a demo with me:
